Having Fans

November 16, 2009

I only go home to my parents when I already ran out of clean underwear, but when I do I make sure that my neighbors know of it by immediately connecting my laptop to my amplifier the minute I arrive and turning on the volume full blast. When I'm not playing my own Electrique albums, I usually pretend that I'm this DJ playing songs following a theme. It may be 90's music, a Britney Spears or Lady Gaga marathon. It may be rock or slow, country or disco. The next song almost always complements what it followed.

One night, I was about to go back to UP when my Mom (who was washing dishes) suddenly laughed and informed me that my "fans" are trying to sneak a peek at me. There was no one there when I turned to look outside, but she told me that she was referring to the "promdi" guys who developed a sort of gang in our neighborhood. True, I do am conscious that whatever song I play gets heard til the fifth or sixth house but I still find it funny that I have developed a following to my music.

Hahaha.

Well, those promdi guys may not have the classiest of tastes in music but having fans is better than having none.

Maybe next time they will start requesting for songs.

Hahaha.

It's so good to feel appreciated, especially when you least expect it.

By the way, I've decided to call my upcoming upbeat J-pop influenced rock album, "Runaway". I am going to shoot the video for the title track on my mini birthday party (that's this Friday) and will release it to my students on November 25.
